To strengthen the women in the community READ Foundation has take steps to sensitize them on gender and support the women groups by micro credits and increase the habit of savings and make them small entrepreneurs.

During the period 2006- 2011 READ Foundation has formed the women groups in villages in Annavasal and Viralimalai blocks and supports them through small grants to initiate to establish their own businesses.

A total number of 3860 women are supported through financial assistance worth INR 4,68,73,000/- (Four Crore sixty eight lakhs and seventy three thousand rupees) for sustainable development in the society. Gender sensitization and gender equalities are taught to them and also they are self protective through gaining the knowledge of the existing National and State laws which are protecting the women in the community and in the family.
